...Other CITIES

Various pictures of various Bolivian Cities follow - beginning in Sucre.

Sucre is Bolivia's "other" capital city. It works something like this: The government is in La Paz, but the legal branch of govt. (courts, etc) is in Sucre.

Sorata is a town deep in an Andean valley. Tropical weather in the middle of a Bolivian winter yet you can see the snow capped mountain above. The biggest suprise in town was an ITALIEN RESTARAUNT!!!??!!! I'll never forget eating over candlelight that night. Our menu options consisted of whatever they could cook over a wood-stove. ...Why? We hitched our way from Copacabana (Lake Titicaca) to Sorata... When we arrived, we were told that the town hadn't had electricity in weeks. Nights were darker than dark, and everything was peaceful. Our "hotel" was a converted mansion (below - the entrance is by the red Marlboro sign). It was absolutely wonderful -Sorata is like paradise. I couldn't think of a better place to just get away from it all.

On to Cochabamba... don't let my camera fool you. This is a lovely city on the eastern side of the Andes mountains. It is said that Cochabamba has the worlds most cumfortable climate because the city is in the mountains on the eastern side of the Andes. The weather is moderate - and wonderful - year round.

A market in Cochabamba. It sprawls under that roof.
